The classic stringless heirloom is resistant to common and NY15 bean mosaic and pod mottle viruses, and is tolerant to powdery mildew. Slightly curved, round pods are about 6" long, and plants are entirely self-supporting. These delicious beans can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, including pesto, sautéed with garlic, braised, or steamed.
Plant yields are early and robust, making this an excellent choice for both fresh and canned use. Beans are high in fiber and can be used in place of other beans, making them a versatile ingredient. They are particularly delicious steamed, pan-fried, or processed (great for dilly beans), and also make a terrific black bean soup.
